Well, what can I tell you? I'm a nerd. A proud nerd, no less and an outspoken one. Nearly every item of clothing has either a comic book insignia or band logo on it, boldly proclaiming my interests to the world. I have to say it comes in handy, because when I do that then all the right people ignore me. God, I love it!

As many facets as I'm sure there are to my psyche that I could spend hours explaining to you all fandom really is a huge part of who I am. All of my life I've looked up to comic book heroes, especially in DC comics, for inspiration. Batman and the Justice League, that's what it was all about, though lately it's expanded far wider, particularly to encompass Daredevil, Captain America and a lot of non-superhero titles, particularly the works of Warren Ellis. (What can I say? I liken the man to a form of god.)

Music is something that's particularly affected me as well, especially in groups that were around during the early 90's like Nirvana and Faith No More. It kind of sucked getting into all of these groups after they were broken up or on the verge of breaking up: it made me feel like a bit of a jinx, but it really turned me onto underground musical culture, which a lot of people who're used to the mainstream look at as dark, brutal and evil, but I've managed to see it with a form of optimism. It's like you can take off the rose coloured glasses, look at the world, see the scum and the filth and still think in it's own way that it's beautiful. To simplify it even more it's like looking at the world in a post-orgasmic glow after angry, angry, violently angry sex.

These are the things I love and the way I usually express it is through writing. Long story short it's what I do best. So I opened up this LiveJournal account on which to post, link and plug all of my works of fanfiction over which I've slaved. For those of you who'd slight me for that I say damn you, it's not because I'm unoriginal, it's because I love my fandoms that much! It's the same reason why bands cover old songs they like, but you don't see anyone blasting them for it (unless their taste in old songs is shit.)

More information on me? Alright. The name "Jack Midnight" comes from a combination of Jack Hawksmoor and the Midnighter, characters from the Authority. I used to watch a lot of anime but lately have become extremely picky, though Gurren Lagann has profoundly taken my interest. I have a fanatical devotion to the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. I'm trans, m2f, and am keeping this writing persona exclusively for fandom purposes, and write original fiction on my other LJ account, floorcandy on which I'm also the maintainer of the words_weekly community.

If there's anything else anyone wants to know, ask. Seriously, there's no question too stupid. I know a lot of stupid people, so you have some stiff competition.
